Noticed recently that there are tiny white worms in almost all my tanks, some crawling by the side of the tank while other swimming around. What are they and are these parasites harmful to the fish or humans? How can I permanently get rid of them? They seem to disintegrate when I put salt on them.

u can't. even prawns will avoid them. they're flatworms or planarians. don't cause any harm to your fishes but it's suggested u remove any if u see them. some people don't mind them, some do. if u do mind them just remove them and dispose of them with your salt method. by the way, don't use a knife on them. when u cut a single flatworm in half u'll get two live flatworms. they happen to split like that. if you see WORMS
    they're not flatworms
flatworms stick to the side of the glass and are widened at the sides, with a very tiny mouth
    you're referring more to nematodes
    fish will eat those
more often than not it's a characteristic of new tanks, LH tanks, and tanks with no small fish

Fatworms are planarian. They stick to the glass and quite a number of fish FEARED them. Duno why.

Sometimes will also float on water surface upsidedown.

When infested in large numbers, they tend to garther around aerated area.
They are hardy and multiply quickly. One more thing, they fear SALT.

Planarians are known to spread TB to human. Dunno this worm species will.

The last time I have it, I root my tank upside down.[]

it's usually the the result of " Over feeding ! " . Stop feeding for 3 to 4 days, do partial water change and salt treatment should get risk of them, Check it out ! cheers ! []
