Here are some B4 and after pics

Next step...err...need to try and cover up the bald patches []

Oh...add some fishies.....probably get some Otos, SAE, Yamatos in about 4-5 days

    nicely done
as for the bald patches, can i suggest that you spread out the blyxa japonica?
if not they WILL overcrowd each other and you'll have a hell of a time thinning them out

Thanks! I got the tank for Nature Aquarium, they're at Balestier Road (opposite Thomson Medical centre). It's 48" X 24" X 18". The cost of the tank is around $750 with the cabinet.

    Hi

Very nice setup. Are you a experienced aqua planter?

May I know how much you spend on the plant at Teo's and if it is not too much trouble, could you take a top view of your tank? Is your tank supported at the centre? How thick is the glass?

Hiya, actually this is my first time with a planted tank. I did have a couple of fish only tanks when I was a kid, but that was a looooong time ago....

The plants cost about 50 bucks in all, they gave me so much, I couldn't plant them all!
I'll try and do the top view, but it might not come out too well due to reflection from the lights.

Not sure if the tank is supported in the centre, but the cabinet seems pretty sturdy. You can go down to NA to check them out, the glass is 10mm.

very chio leh. only thing I will echo someone said earlier, the blyxa will grow into very thick bush and obstruct the centre view. You might consider moving the blyxa to the two side and use glosso or hairgrass in the centre to make a parade square... err. I mean open plaza [:]

also you might want to float your unused cambomba, frogbits etc in a corner to suck up nutrients until the plants establish themselves, anti-algae SOP.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Wow, very nice tank Nature sells. $750 is worth it and good price. Maybe add a background to hide the tubes and wires?

Wah. Very chio. Good start. Please keep us updated.

Agree with DEA and HWChoy, spread out the Blyxa. Too bad didn't manage to catch you on Saturday.

    Thanks for all your comments.

Honest this is my first time with a planted tank. Actually I have you guys to thank for it, got my inspiration from looking at the "My Tanks" section []

The foreground needs a lot of work.....definetly going to spread out the B.Japonica.

BTW, any suggestions for the background colour to hide the tubing? Chan sells the blue background, but I'm thinking of using black which Chan doesn't have. Anyone knows which LFS sells the black ones?

Vince, I guess you must have left Teo's already, I was a little late....took a while to drag wifey out of bed []

Oh yeah forgot to mention, the reason I put the B.Japonica in the middle is coz I was afraid that they won't get enough light at the sides?

Anyone thinks this will be a problem? I'll try it anyway. I got a shock after planting, I checked up on B.Japonica at Tropica's directory and it says this is a difficult plant to keep [:0]

    Well just give it a try....if it don't work....there's always E.tenellus []

I prefer the self adhesive background. AquaMart has it. Dunno where else. If you get that, ask the LFS how to apply it properly or post here again.

You may want to forego the UV filter for the start to allow beneficial bacteria to cultivate
