Probably been gorging himself on all the insects visiting your garden.
I had a newt run away many years ago when I was a kid. A few years later, my dad found him under the compost heap of dried leaves that we place under our mango tree.
Yes! I finally found him! My green tree frog ran away 1 month ago and I could not find him after 3 days of hunting. Pretty strong fella to be able to push his way thru my glass cover. Finally found him at my balcony garden this afternoon. Thought he would have died by now. He has grown much bigger.

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
a few years?! wow, these fellows really know how to survive

You guys keep a tree frog in the office??
Yeah, in a tank of course.
We also had newts and a planted tank. I had 4 Chinese Firebelly newts (CFBs) on my desk.

Zoo? Nah, just kidding.
We produced multimedia software. Started with my boss starting a reef tank in the office. Then someone else brought a paddletail newt. Shortly after I brought my 4 CFBs.
A power outage during one CNY killed the reef tank, so my boss gave up and gave the tank to us to start a planted tank. After that, we had a new collegue who was into exotics and well, let's just say, fish, newts and frogs were the least exotic pets in the office. We had feeder crickets in the office, and the males (i.e. the noisy ones) are always the first to be fed to the pets.
Anyway, that was at least 4 or 5 years ago. The pet lovers, including myself, have since moved on to other jobs and companies.

My collegues' paddletails, Ren and Stumpy. One of them had a stump for a foot, so we named them Ren and Stumpy after the then popular Ren and Stimpy cartoon.
Ren:
Ren, Godzilla wannabe (he was aggressive enough):

I wanted to shift my paddletail to office... But am not sure if it will take floating crickets...

I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted! ), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted! ), C.tonkinensis(Melted! ), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii
Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...
Floating crickets?
We used to hand-feed Ren and Stimpy live baby frogs. I never thought that they could catch them on their own, given how 'slow' they seem... but Ren proved me wrong one day when the baby frog I was holding got free.

Ya, floating crickets... Some crickets would jump into the water while fleeing the frogs and ended up floating around...
The paddletails are fast! And they are amazingly strong willed... This one I am intending to shift buried itself in my home vivarium and 'disappeared' for months... I caught it and placed it in another vivarium and forgot about it as it was also hiding and it is still alive and well, albeit a little smaller in size!
So, was thinking of placing it in office for a better life but baby frogs are a BIG no no as feeders!

'Ethics' (for want of a better word)? Funny how most people have no issues with feeder-insects, or other 'bugs', like worms, but not frogs, fish, etc.
What do you feed it then?

Not ethics... No idea how or where to place the feeder frogs! And I certainly do not want the feeders to grow and become too big for the original inhabitants of the tank, which are copper cheeks!
Feeding it tubifex worms now...

Simple. Just put them in one of those small plastic tanks with the bright plastic mesh cover. Some water and a piece of wood or rock completes it. Feed the tubifex worms to them. You can try gut loading them.

Oh no... No worms in office... Feeding it worms at home now... And I think I had gone OT...
