Just completed my last paper for this year, so took the opportunity to try using a velvet background. I think need 2 flash to make the pic more natural. I did a rough count and I got around 90 species in my yard

very nice, but yah a couple extra flash would be nice, or some reflector/mirrors to help. you mean the they are so big you can use a 50/1.8 instead of macro?
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

thks michael, that particular plant has bloom a few times since i got ir

choy, I only got a 180mm macro and my yard hasn't the room, some are too big. think a 50/60/90mm macro will be good. For the flash issue, i find that every time I take a shot of the entire plant, only one side is litted, if got 2 flash, should be better

not true that only DSLR can produce such pic, even prosumer can. Just a matter of apply techniques
