erm how do you create a moss bed huh? does it take a really long time? And is it true that the temperature must be low and heavy light intensity doesnt help growth of moss?

for what i did was, i tied my spiky moss onto a wire mesh, laid then down on top of my gravel and let them slowly grow by themsleves, cool water is ideal for best moss growth

    Hi all,

Just to share with everyone for my 4' x 2' x2' tank

I tie about 3' long US fissiden on small stone and long wood (4-5 inch dep) infront and follow by round edge riccia (3-5") behind it and abt 1ft downoi on the other side.

On the rear left with java fern DW while on the right rear DW with US fissiden and round edge riccia with "Red taiyang chow". Also some Jap fissiden.

    regards

I've tried the above method but I have trouble concealing the wire mesh. Attempted to 'bury' the mesh for a more natural look but failed.

Please share your experiences on how to conceal the unsightly wire mesh.... thanks

when the moss grow thick it will auto cover the mesh, no worry.

    What about Singapore's moss?

like what hii bro said, when the moss starts growing, it will be so thick that it'll cover the mesh

Would there be a need to have a thicker coverage at the edge of the mesh?

I got taiwan moss carpet, I did not pay extra attention on the edge, after a while the moss will cover the whole mess. Just make sure you cover the mesh evenly otherwise you will see some empty patch.

I second both Christmas & Spiky moss.

Only thing is to ensure that they stay at least dirt free.

Do place them at a cooling place. The fronds for the xmas moss and spiky moss will be very beautiful

can moss grow in a tank around 28 deg c ? i tried in the past a few times and failed miserably ... they simply browned and rotted away.
