First time seeing these Posionous fellas in my many bashing into the bush .

    Mangrove (Shore) pit-viper
    Trimeresurus purpureomaculatus

    size: max 100cm

    From Ecology Asia Web:
the Shore Pit Viper has a reputation for being unpredictable and should be approached with caution. Giving no warning signs, this snake will strike readily at any threat, and its powerful haemotoxic venom can cause serious illness or even kill. By day it can be found resting on low branches one or two metres from the ground.

That snake looks absolutely evil. (Not that animals are capable of being truly evil.)

So, how close did you get (being a photography illiterate, I can't even begin to guess from the setting you posted)? Did you or the snake leave first? How big was it?

It was actually on the ground.
Fearing that someone might step on it, picked it up wth a LONG branch and set it on a tree before leaving it to its own devices after some shots.

    shot it from about 6m.

mervin, looks like time to clean your sensor (or lens) too.

    Thomas,

Mervin will take you seriously about shooting frogs. But best to do a recce session first. Shooting conditions for frogs are not easy in their tanks. May have to do a separate setup.

    Cheers,

No problems! Weekends are possible, if the timing is right. Office is accessible at night too... But he will have to look see and see if I need to re-scape/arrange some stuff so he can shoot with more ease...
