A plant can live without CO2 injection, because there is CO2 present in the water.

Expect a much slower growth rate when relying solely on the CO2 exist in the water. However, the plants will still grow healthily (provided all the required nutrients are provided to them)

Get a non-aquatic plant and plant them without injecting Co2,see how they grow.Get some plant from the lake or something =)They'll grow slow, isn't that good?? Less trimming =)

Bro, you really ought to be more specific. It's amount to asking " Can my pet rock survive without air?"

I do agree that you have to be much more specific. Certain plants may not require additional co2 injection to do ok, while others require for higher co2 levels. I've a low maintenace tank that I put all my spare platies, snails and plants in. I have crypts and other easy growing plants fluorishing - to the extent that the whole tank is crammed full of plants (a mass of green), but still growing. However, when my co2 injection for my higher maintenance tank ran out my tennellus pretty much stopped growing. Hope this helped.
