It's most probably the driftwood. Try adding a small sack of activated carbon to your filter if you're afraid of doing a large water change. The carbon should help clear up your water without any ill effects to the inhabitants of your tank.
Guys,
My 1ft cube tank for the past 1 month, had quite yellowed water. It doesn't cause any discomfort i think to the endlers and shrimps inside, but it really hinders my effort to see the fishes/shrimps clearly.
What actually causes the yellowish in the water? My inhabitants are shrimps, endlers, driftwood with moss. As for lighting, a hang on light. Filter is a Hang-on-filter as well, the smaller ones. Could it be the driftwood? I'm really trying not to change the water (>50%) cause scared it will killed off all my shrimp and not that easy to catch them inside. Lots of juveniles swimming around... like wise with using chemicals...

P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.
confirm driftwood, you need to soak it for few weeks before it stop leaking tanin (if ever )
By the way, dont leave the activated carbon in your filter for too long
yup activated carbon need to be change regularly, otherwise it will leak out back whatever toxin its absorb.
oh okie.
will buy one soon~~
thanks guys.
I'm having the same problem as well but I do not have any DW in my setup...
I just started cycling my 3ft tank & the water is yellow... Any idea how can I clear the water up?
I have 27L of Adasoil, background Java Moss on mesh, running 02 Canister Filters (01 1000L/hr, 01 450L/hr), just placed 08 swordtails to start the process...
Started cycling the tank on the 01 Jan...
I don't know if it is the subtrate that is clouding the Tank... But everything has settled down on Day 1... Do you think that the dust in the Adasoil that is still floating around in the tank?
