I was told that Nepenthes bicalcarata can be found in the lowland forest of Matang.

So, I decided to go back to the area I visited about a year ago.

After spending 2 hours in the jungle, I still couldn't find that pitcher plant. Then, the bad weather moving in ....and I got to leave at 4pm.

A jungle stream at Matang of western Sarawak.

Nepenthes ampullaria is very common here.

Within very small open area got a few natural cross hybrid of pitcher plants. This one is Nepenthes X trichocarpa :

Another one....Nepenthes X trichocarpa ...this perstome is wider than the one above. Could it be something else ???

I never expected to find this species of wild ginger called Plagiostachys crocydocalyx in this spot!!! I was hiking passed this area for so many times & yet I only saw it today! It has very unusual looking of inflorescence:

now that's an interesting orchid! no idea which genus even?
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
