Fertilisation, lighting and good CO2 injection. The latter two are more important for riccia to bubble.

I'm also wondering how to get riccia to bubble. i have 1 patch of riccia, grow out nicely but didnt bubbles. But i just bought some new riccia from LFS and tied them under netting on stone for them to grow, in fact those got bubbles. if say CO2 and fertilizer not enough, i will be doubtful, but old and new riccia are in same tank. how come the old 1 dont bubble while the new 1 did.?

Place the old patch of riccia where the new patch is and see if it bubbles or not. If it does, it will show that your CO2 dispersion is not evened-out which probably will lead to a water-flow issue.

Riccia should bubble when the conditions are correct, even when they start growing out of their mesh.

    Hi Unicorn555,

I have a 3 feet with riccia in it too. I have 2 X CO2 outlets at 1 bubble per second each. I have 4X39W and 4X36W PL on it for 9 hours.

My Riccia bubbles very poorly initially when I have 1 CO2 outlet.

After I added the 2nd one, the Riccia bubbles well.

You may want to try increasing the CO2 rate first to 2/3 bubbles per second. If you can run another outlet, I think it may help to dissolve and disperse quicker. If this does not work, I think u may need to add more lights too.

    Cheers!

hi all, my fish wont swim up anymore, i adjust my CO2 to stop 2hrs before light off and on light for 12hrs. My riccia start to bubble too, but still not whole patch , just some patch of riccia bubbles.
    Cheers.

If the water flow is slower, you will see more pearling.

best to circulate the tank with co2 well, and not waste those co2 by floating up and disperse on the surface.
