    Hi,

Recently, i have bought some altums. After introducing them into my tank, which has quite a few cardinal tetras and rummy nose inside, I started to notice there will be a few dead fishes floating everyday. However, the dead fish show no sign of being attack.

Can anyone tell me why?? Thanks.

That's not a lot of information to work with. There can be many variable factors that cause these mysterious deaths.

Did you quarantine your altum angels before introducing them into the tank?

Healthy looking fishes may also carry diseases that can spread to current tank inhabitants.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Some details of your setup will be helpful.

    1. What is the tank size?
    2. List of inhabitants and their numbers.
    3. Is it a planted tank? Is it heavily planted?
    4. What is the filter that you are using?
    5. How long has this tank been set up?
    6. Do you dose anything into the tank? Water conditioners? Fertilizers?

many thanks for the reply. i guess that i did not quarntine my altums before releasing them into the tank.the reason i did not quartine them is because altums are very sensitive to water conditions, and i do not intent to move my altums from one tank to another. my tank is a 4 feet tank, with about close to 80 pcs of rummy nose and cardinals. tank has been running for few years on ehiem 2228. jus added so melafix into tank. hope it helps...

Don't see anything that seems unusual, stocking for a 4 feet tank looks okay to me. So there is a possibility then that lack of quarantine procedure may be the cause. Hope it all goes well for you with the dose of Melafix.

Primafix is more of a anti bacterial medication. Will work well with Melafix. Do keep us updated if the fish loss comes to a halt.
