The highlight of this trip is not the journey to Gunung Kerangan (1,463 feet) but the red "apples" from the nearby area!

Many thanks to Robert for showing me the red Nepenthes ampullaria. I never seen so many many red ampullaria before.....I almost fainted on the site!!! Wowwww!!!

    The red "ground apples" :

It is very rare to find red colour of N. ampullaria......but here, it's growing abundantly!!! You can see the common "spotted green" in the upper left of this picture.

Close-up of this handsome picther !!!! Damn beautiful!!!!

And also, my very first time to see this cute little aerial pitcher of red ampullaria!!! Alamak!!

The leaves of the plant is green, not red.....ha!ha! So beautiful.

And, I was shocked to find this : A pitcher plant can grow 2 type of colours of pitcher : green "apples" and red "apple" !!!! Probably this plant is a natural cross between green ampullaria & red ampullaria ???

Gosh! This is the second location of finding this giant land snail of Borneo!!! It is Bertia brookei, named after our white rajah (king) of Sarawak, James Brooke. It is an endemic species to Borneo.

My very first time to see this species of wild ginger (Hornstedtia reticulata):
