Hey Ken,
Haha, too late now, can't catch them. What I feel like doing is to salvage the remaining H.C and transfer them to a smaller tank just to let them grow. Really sad to see the red noses rummaging through the H.C like some salad bar.

Lol. You can multiply them emersed. Grows really fast compared. just plant it on some wet soil in indirect sunlight.
Your scape is looking good.
I'd add that HC is for new setups where you want to let it settle before the fauna goes in. At least 3 weeks.

Catching shrimps is like catching SAE, put their fav food in a fish trap. The cut PET bottle with inverted top thing.

hehe not much of a shrimp picking problem but more of a red nose taking a liking to the h.c, there are a few bunches which are secured down even with the red noses picking on them, i used a bit of the rock wool to get them to be secured down, those are spreading much faster.
I'll wait for the h.c to spread more before thinking of my next steps to take.

Break some satay sticks into a 'u' shape to hold the HC down. Works like a charm.
I thought the red nose you were talking about were the red nose shrimp. :duh:!

Ah that's a good idea, having a satay or toothpick to hold down the H.C. Why didn't I think of that too.

Update: My H.C has all been reduced to little branches thanks to my red noses.
Looks like I'll be filling the foreground with the robust hairgrass.
Will post a photo soon.

Yeah, quite sad.
I wonder why in the world they had to eat up all the H.C. I'll post a photo of the botak H.C branches soon.

24 days after rescape.
Can you see the botak foreground?
Also new additions to the tank, pearl pigeons.
Apologies for the poor photo quality.

Small comment. The way your inlet is blowing, it's cramping the tall leafy plants.

Inlet or outlet?

Lol, outlet! fat brained nowadays...

Actually its not the outlet on the right that's blowing the balansae, its the balansae that's growing all twisted.
Ever since I got it, it's been that way. I'll need to find a way to straighten them out.

hmmm take it all out and iron it! lol. Notice this happens in some tanks. You think what's the cause? Deficiency?
You can if you dare to fail - Stan Chung
It might be a form of defiency, the rest of my crypts are growing pretty upright and nicely. The balansae's are sprouting, except the downward-growing leaves or rather in my case, curled ones.

Yeah sad case... previously, they whacked my downoi.
I'll probably get a pot or two of Japanese hairgrass and try that out. The normal hairgrass are spreading really quickly actually.

Update: 34 days after rescape. I've added the following fauna after the rescape.
4 x juvenile discus (pearl pigeon strain)
2 x zebra otos
1 x juvenile farowella acus.
Sorry for the crappier 2nd photo, color, etc is totally off and blur as well, its the best I can do with my pda camera.
