Steady lah, Vincent!
Looks like the tank is now used as a partition -- nice.
How much does setting up the lights cost?

COOL!!!
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
very nice.. as if u got them off-shelf.. ya, how much the cost?
Did you scavenge the light covers from some other fixture or DIY?

I will take pictures of the different parts when I change the bulbs. Should be these few days. I got the light holders and MH bulbs free from Jeffrey. Spent about $200 plus for the e-ballasts, wires, ceramic holders, PVC pipe, nuts and bolts. Yes, the equipment at the lower right corner is a Teco680 chiller.can show the lights/holder, where u got these holders?

I got the e-ballast from Jeffrey. Paid about $50 plus each.Where did you get the balast and how much ?
The metal stand was already built into the cabinet when i bought the tank from Jeffrey. Too tough to DIY. But the hole behind the chiller was DIYed for better air circulation in the cabinet. One more thing I noticed in the last pic. Did you DIY the cabinet around the metal tank stand?
The MH bulbs that I am presently using is 4000K. Colour of the tank and plants is not nice because of the yellowish tint. So I went to buy 6500W Iwasaki MH bulbs from Eye Lighting (Info from ach). The sales engineer, Bernard was nice to warn me that certain ballasts might not drive the lamps to its optimum performance. To be on the safe side, he asked me to bring my e-ballast to him for testing. Luckily, my e-ballasts were able to power the lamps. Was so happy to see the white light emitting from the Iwasaki's compared to the yellowish Philips. They even have 50000k bulbs for marine. Feel free to ask me questions about the MH bulbs. Learnt a lot from Bernard. []
Nice! So how did you hang your MH lights? From the ceiling?
Hi Vican,Nice! So how did you hang your MH lights? From the ceiling?
Yup, the lights are hung from the ceiling. Initially, I wanted to use those holders that held water pipes to the wall or ceiling, but difficult to drill holes in the ceiling with the obstructing tank below. Luckily, there are 2 ceiling hooks left behind on the ceiling and it is exactly along the center on the tank. Very, very lucky. So, I just hooked the PVC pipe to chains and chains to the hooks. Will take pics of the ceiling soon.
Kingpin wow wonderful job there =) does 6500k blubs come in 150watts? cos i guess i got to change the bulbs if not it's very yellowish.
Cheers!

The Iwasaki MH bulbs do come in 150W, but it is those screw base connection (E27). I am not very sure whether they have those DE type connection. Give Bernard a call at Eye lighting. They have a demostration room showing the various MH bulbs from 2500K to 50000K. It is difficult to find 6500k MH bulbs in Singapore. The common one is Osram 5200K MH bulb. But I must warn you that Iwasaki bulbs are not cheap. Osram 150W DE MH bulb cost about $40 plus right? Iwasaki costs about $70 plus and rated to be able to last for about 2 years.
I have not fix the new bulbs yet. Will post pics to compare the differences soon.
If you can go to the extend to get MH for a 6 footer paying extra $140 for 2 blubs of 6500k is worth it.
i just don't like the yellowish light colour. Where is eye lighting anyway? If it's isn't far from me i will give it a go.
I'm sure u will love the 6500k blubs.
Cheers!

I think Petmart sells 150W 6500K double end MH bulb @$75. But that was quite a while ago
Benetay,
Eye lighting is located at 21 Kaki Bukit Place, opposite the car megamart.
Vican,
Even if both MH are rated 150W, there is this spec called RA, which Iwasaki bulbs are rated at 96 which is considered to be high. This aids photosynthesis of the plants. Just do a search on the net, most reviews about this bulb is good. Good for the growth of coral and plants. Just that for marine aquariums, there is this need to supplement with blue lights. Shown below is the Iwasaki 70W Mh bulb and how the light holders are connected to the ceiling.
Compare the difference Philips 4000k vs Iwasaki 6500k
Wow! Took my breath away man!
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
i love the second one.. beautiful...
