    Hi

just set up my planted tank 3 weeks ago.
60 x 30 x 40 cm with only glosso[starting to creep]and intend to add hair grass in the near future.
Presently,I have cheery shrimps.Thought of adding oto and rummynose to it.
    Any advise?
Will rummynose too big for the size of my tank?

hmm... you might like to take a picture of your tank to show us. Whilst we know you have glosso, we're not too sure if it's an open concept or a "wild" aquascape.

Generally, rummynose are good shoaling fishes. In a two feet tank, you can easily keep a school of 15 fishes beautifully. Otocinclus spp. are good algae crew for your tank too.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

In my opinon you can look at those small boraras/rasboras. They are less likely to harass your shrimp due to their size. And because of that, you can keep a bigger school than tetras in your 2 footer. Otos are good for cleaning the glass and also shrimp safe.

Get the smaller tetras like Ember tetras or the like. Boraras are an excellent choice because they are so small and make your tank look bigger.

    Hi guys

    Thanks for all your recommendations.
Added 12 rummynose and 6 otos.
Anyway,my tank is a open concept.
Notice that temperature is around 29 Celcius when lights on.Is it too warm?

The temperature should be okay, but plants tend to do better at lower temperatures.

Do note that unless your tank is heavily planted, your shrimps may become food for the rummynose. Anything that fits their mouths are potential food.

    Have fun with your fishes.

Any other alternative besides chiller[too expensive] to lower the temperature?
Understand some of them in the forum using PC fans to lower the temperature. Is there any which I can get it off the shelf? DIY=dangerous

    cheers

You can use a fan. There are off the shelf products available. I can't remember the brands off hand but you can find some discussions in the Equipment and Accessories section.

    hello mano

    Hi there,

I'm new here and unable to send PM. So I'm wondering if you have pics taken of your tank and if you did, could you e-mail me them. I'm thinking of starting a 2ft glosso tank with some fishes for my wife. Would like to see your setup. Thanks. Do hope to hear from you.

Edit: Please avoid SMS lingo/abbreviations, spell and use punctuations properly. Considering this is your first post, I will be lenient and just correct it. However, note that posts which contain too many SMS lingo/abbreviations may be deleted without advanced warning.
