    Hi all,

Five of my cardinals died today when i reach home. Floating on top... they have been suffering from itch since last week. my initial thought was that they would be cure by themself but how wrong i am indeed. i've took them out and place them in guppy tank - added aquarium salt and the abit of the blueish liquid used to treat itch (forget the name-from qian hu). so now what do i do with the tank water? change 80 %? or do i need to clean my cannister filter as well? temp of my tank is 24-25 deg.

Have silver tetra and ruby tetra too but they seems to be okey so i leave them in the tank. Thank you for reading hope to hear on what i am suppose to do next. Please help.

I personally do not have experience with ich at all, so I may not be able to offer you sound advices.

However, medications would normally come with instructions. Doesn't yours have them? I understand that you would need to follow the full course of medication to totally eradicate them.

The sticky Freshwater/Tropical Fish diseases has some information too. You can also do a search using the keywords "white spot". There are some previous discussions.

    Good luck with your fishes.

I didn't use any chemical. Just add salt & switch off the fan (tomont cannot survive in high temperature) for 2 weeks. Do water change (20-30%) everyday for the 1st week & 3 times a week the following week. Works well for me. No casualty.

You may need to use a heater to bring up the temperature (28-30degree) as the weather is quite cold nowadays.

For more fun, read up in the internet on the lifecycle of this parasite .
    Cheers,

Sera costapur. Very good to cure against Icthyophthirius and other parasites.

I had Sera costapur 50ml, had used about 15-20% selling $5.00. I had cure it on cardinal tetra after dose it for few days. I find it to be a good product.

Reduce your bioload or increase your filter capacity. My experience with ich is usually when the tank is new and the filter is not fully cycled to handle all the bioload.

Thank you to all bro who have responded to my plea for help. i've read and did to my best ability separating them and add on with salt and the ich medicine but unfortunately all 15 of my cardinals move on one by one. i dunt seem to understand the ich attack all my cardinals but my silver tetra and red ruby is not effected. my bioload is only 25 fishes - 15 cardinals 5 silver and 5 rubies. now left 10. my filter is more then a year old and itz not a new set tank well i'll just have to be watchful on what fish to keep then. Thanks all. Have a great day!
