Hey guys..was reading about "Sump filters" or something like that before..
i have a spare 5g tank, could i use that for a sump for my 30g tank?
Also, what would i need to buy to run this sump thing? what is the benefit of them?
    Thanks for info..

it is too small to be of much use.. but it can still serve as another form of filtration.. which u can link it from your canister filter to the tank..

unless u plan to drill holes into your tank and have it flow via PVC pipes to the sump, u just need to have one pump to pump the water back into the tank, if not, u can get two pumps, one inside the tank, the other in the sump... to work the circulation...

what is the benefit of them?
    1. ease of maintenance (when changing filter media)
    2. high levels of dissolved oxygen are produced
    3. convenient to top up water
    4. increase in surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow
