    Hi guys,

AQ organised an Orchid Farm Excursion on 07 Jan 2007.

I tagged along and here are some photos taken by my trusty Canon IXUS 40. The 3 farms are actually located in the same premises at Sungei Tengah, so it was relatively easy once we got there.

Initially, I wasn't impressed as it seems just like any nursery with all the usual garden variety. But looks can be deceiving.

Obviously, the more experienced know where to "ZOOM" right in once they got there. No prize for guessing who these three are.

In the meantime, I was practicing my macro mode on the usual garden variety further back.

Subsquently, I discovered that there were loads of other unusual offering further back in the nursery. The front portion is just for folks with no time and just wanted a quick pick and pay experience.

I though these plants in the shells were quite neat. It has some kind of pods. Can't remember what they were. Perhaps those that were there can remind me.

Ok. The next couple of pictures are some macro shots of orchids. And I can't remember their names.

    More to come.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Besides flowers, we saw this skink as well! It was discovered by Gecko's son and surprisingly, the skink was relatively tame.

Then, there is this grey parrot near the entrance. Friendly little fellow and would it would like you to stroke it's head. But I wouldn't recommend you try. It may just bite.

Oh, there was this hyperactive and inquisitive hornbill too!

Obviously I can't get a good shot as it kept thinking that I was trying to feed him with my camera.

    More flower macros..

I'm sure Thomas and Philippe will remember the last one.

    More to come.

As well as the exotic specimens...

All in all, it was quite an eye opener and it was great to catch up with the rest of the guys!
