FOr thse who have this sedge-like plant in your tanks, how long do the leaves grow?

Mine tend to grow very very long and float at the surface, obscuring the light from plants near the foreground. Is there a way to keep its leaves shorter?

Very tall, nearly to the top of my 24" high tank... I just trim off longer leaves at the base and keep younger/shorter growth visible only.
