This is the 1st time I am using a Canon A80 Powershot to take pictures. Personally I felt it is not a well taken shot.

How can I improve to do justice in bring out the beauty of these fishes?

Is a PnS camera able to capture a good picture for apisto?

the first pix is actually not bad, if you get rid of the mirror, and diffuse down the flash a little. put a piece of white paper in front of the flash.

do remember that getting a good pix is not just about the fish, but the background and settings also. hence clean glass, clean water, getting the fish into a pose you wanted without also capturing the paraphernalia like mirrors and hiding pipes. You can use a mirror to get it to flare, but then you must compose such that the mirror is not visible in the picture.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
