    is it? looks quite ok to me considering you are using ƒ/16 and have hardly any DOF. This fish is broad bodied.

    It was slightly cropped only IIRC. It was shot with the Kenko extender (2 small ones) together with the Canon 100mm. So the DOF is nearly paper thin.

    and the kenko will also introduce some softness, on top of the ƒ/16.

    I thought so too. As after I removed the Kenko and just shoot the goby with only the 100mm, the picture is sharper and DOF is not so thin.

    Same problem faced when using Benny's MP-5. Nearly vomited blood.

    The vomit blood was when using the MP-5. I was trying out different way of diffusing the top lighting. Currently trying out with an Omni-bounce. Lighting is softer than using a piece of paper as diffusor.
