one of my cory, a leopard species got some red rashes formed around its left gills, I believe I see a small tumour like reddish "thing" as well, like some tetra bits fish food.

The fish keeps going to the surface for air.

    What could be the cause?
Should I quaratine the fish to prevent infection of other fishes?
    Will any medicine help?

bennyp do water changes of 10% everyday for 2-3 days and see what happens. Is your tank newly setup? If it is, might be ammonia level or nitrite level high...but only one fish is affected..might be gill flukes or some disease. Try to look up books or info on the net on fish disease syptoms and add the appropriate medication. (Water change first and see how is the fish cause medication does have its cons). Good luck.

-isolate the cory from other fish
-have clean water mixed with the old water added with salt
-apply some anti bacterial solution (careful of dosage
-put the hospital tank away from the sun, and shaded to avoid stressing the fish since its a lone now.
observe the fish when u feed. do not put the usual amt but little by little

hope the above helps, but water must be clean.
To each her own fish !
