    Hi guys

like to know how yr manage the lighting time.

    Usually will be 10hrs

    BUT,
1] ON all the way for 10hrs. OR
2] at interval using timer control like On for 5 hrs than OFF for 3 hrs then ON for another 5 hrs .... kind of arrangement(total ON is still 10hrs)

If option 2, then what is the best ON/OFF hrs interval for yr tank base on yr experience/findings.

which method is better for planted tank?

    thks

Its your personally preference. Read the info on the net and decide for yourself. Supposedly, algae don't like the break.

If you break, break no more then 4 hrs. The 2 lighted periods should be roughly equal in time.

Most I think have the lights on all the way. Simon and I let the plants nap in the afternoon. []

Hey Vinz, I'm also using the Siesta program []

4hr on 4hr off then 4hr on again. In fact this was recommended by Chan at NA.

No algae problems yet, enough green spot algae for the Otos I think (they look healthy). My malayan shrimps prefer the dead leaves...

How about the CO2? Within the interval of 4hrs off should the CO2 be shut off also?

Nope, not advisable for DIY CO2. You should never completely turn off your DIY CO2 for extended periods.

My CO2 canister is a manual type. Won't be around to turn it off. In this case, can I follow the 4hr on & 4hf off method or should I just onn the lights for 10 hrs then turn it off?
