give them regular tap water will be fine.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

I have found out that their hardiness depends on the variety of the guppies. My experiences have suggested that the fancier strains are not usually as hardy as wild strains and do well with an addition of salt to the water. They like moderately hard water; seem to do better with 7+ pH.
If you want them to thrive, the females will need good plant covering as the males will harass them. Also gives the fry a better chance of survival.
