Happen to read this article CO2 – carbon dioxide at Dennerle website and they gave a rough formula on calculating CO2 bubble rate for planted tank:

    Litres x 13
--------------- = number of bubbles per minute
    100

    Really? Anyone use this method?

Anyway - on their CO2 table, they seem to advocate 15 to 35ppm of CO2.

The bubbling rate are just meant to be as a guide. The actual rate will very much depend on the efficiency of your reactor/diffuser in getting the CO2 into the water.

I shoot for 35ppm CO2. It is a bit on the edge for the health of my fishes. But so far so good.

Hi guys!!! For myself, i think the pH/KH method with the help of the graph is best for determining the proper level of CO2..Therefore the bubbling rate is perharps a rough guide..I tried it but my current bubbling rate was more than what i calculated with the formula. Bubbling rate is actually a bit of trial and error stuff []

    there are other factors too
like your fishload, skimmers, and surface turbulence
i generally go for 5~6 bps with an external reactor, ~250l tanks, no problems so far
