The dark caves & subterranean rivers / streams of Borneo are home of interesting fauna. In this trip, my cousin & I decided to survey some subterranean streams to find potential spot to go explore in the near future. We'll come back to search for the blind cave fish. Besides cave fish without the eyes, some cavers even found snails, shrimps & crabs deep inside the dark "underworld"!!!

    more here:

One of the subterranean streams in southern Sarawak. There are a lot of interesting creatures in the dark cave, especially the blind cave fish.

    Probably roundleaf bat (Hipposideros sp.???)

Another species of bat....probably Diadem roundleaf bat. (Hipposideros diadema ???)

The beautiful swiftlet & its nest. It has echo-locate ability in order to fly inside the dark cave.

The dark cave is the home for swiftlet. This one is a juvenile of Aerodramus sp. - most probably Aerodramus salanganus or mossy nest swiftlet. I have no idea why some Humans are so cruel to eat (& destroy) their nest!!!??? (Some species of swiflet's nests are edible)

A species of long-legged cricket (Family : Gryllidae) found inside the cave.

A species of toad found inside the dark cave. Probably Ansonia spinulifer ???

Some flora & fauna outside the cave (limestone outcrop):

    Begonia sp.

Another new location of Cryptocoryne ferruginea (aquatic aroid) !!! Thousands of this Crypt. growing abundantly in a dried up pond near the limestone outcrop! The guy near the pond is my cousin.

Close-up of the spathe (flower) of Cryptocoryne ferruginea.

First time this beautiful phasmid / stick insect.

Wow!!! The red coloured leaves of Nepenthes mirabilis (pitcher plant)!!!

    The cricket??
    well..isn't it Rhaphidophoridae instead?
If its found in borneo then most probably in the subfamily Aemodogryllinae.
Really wild guess..but Tachycines sp. perhaps??
