i got to know this crab more than half a year ago, wanted to go catch immediately after seeing the pics, but then my lobang told me better wait till the weather is warmer. the habitat is about 800 meter above sea level, and snowing every year during winter...

even though it's golden week, everything from flight ticket to accommodation is much higher than usual rate, bo bian, i still chiong..I really didn't expect something so colorful from a temperate region....btw the villagers collect them after heavy rain and deep fry them!

my first collection trip without fish net....damage beside the cash : ST-E2(lost during frog hunting at night) & my pretty new handphone (kena stolen).....

habitat is like small valley in bamboo forest, almost no water flow, but below the stone, the soil is wet.

the crab is not found in bigger hillstreams, let's say more than 50 cm wide...

The biggest specimen is larger, maybe 30%. this is a male, already the very average adult size. female can be as much as colorful as male, will take more pics very soon.

The crab has a striking red color, never seen before.
Did you tried how the taste is like?

Goodness!!! That's some pretty substantial damage!! How did you dislodge the ST-E2 from the hotshoe?

I'm surprised your phone was stolen but your camera was not.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
