2ft tanks are quite good for a start. Since 12" high is not much, take care in your selection of plants so they don't reach the surface very fast. There was a thread discussing small tanks a while back.

hmmmz but the water chemiststry is pretty unstable for a 2feet tank...
i started with 2 feet too...
but it is tricky cuz the vitel h2o composition is pretty hard to maintain as with his small amt of water it changes real quickly...

Water chemistry is not much of a problem for my 2ft planted tank. Need some more maintenance perharps. Remember!! Good looking plants comes with a price [] Lots of back-breaking hard work []

it's much easier to maintain good water chemistry with plants than without
i'd say give it a go
what are you keeping in the tank, intended equipment etc?

hey shicki, just to give you start into some research. Do some research first, helps cut cost and minimise problems.

We got plenty of websites among forumers which you can look at and learn from. I think Kenzo has a website of all our websites and a collection of every single Singaporean tank he can get a pic of.

Try reading through the entire forum. its doesn't take that long cause after a while, you'll realise that some things are often repeated.

For inspiration in the kinds of aquascapes:
    Visit Kenzo's site
    Go see Jacian's site
Type Takashi Amano in your computer, I think the url is www.vectrapoint.com just be prepared to be blown away.

Have fun, 2ft is a nice size to play with.

The only problem I see is tha you will probably crave for a 3ft or 4ft after you get the hang of it.[]
