Starts with Paramesotriton hongkongensis, quite a few researchers refered it as geological variation of P.chinensis but later proved to be not. Actually this species looks more like P.guangxiensis, just my personal amature point of view. This is an ex-endemic species.

The following pictures are taken during a night hunting trip to Wu Tong mountain, last Sat.

Most common anura is Bufo melanostictus, virtually found everywhere from parks to residential area.

This is Leptolalax liui, a quite small species described in 1991.

Kalophrynus interlineatus, a damn cute species, some immoral dealer selling this species as POISON ARROW FROG at ridiculous price. It's price has increased 5 times since 2004, thanks to the introduction on the Aquazoonews magazine. Anyway, this is my most wanted frog. Forgot picked how many dried up ones when I was looking for it..

Microhyla butleri, the only specimen we encountered. Should be common but much less compare to other two species from the same genus.

The most common frog in the region should be this Fejervarya limnocharis...the pattern is variable.

We couldn't get the similar looking species, Hoplobatrachus chinensis, this time..we caught it from the other location in Feb

According to "A Field Guide To The Amphibians of Hong Kong", I still got to work harder..

    now missing

1.Xenophrys brachykolos, i have idea where to get it..
2.Microhyla ornata, should be very easy to find..
3.Amolops ricketti, hmm, now i have problems differentiating it with A.hongkongensis
4.Hoplobatrachus chinensis, shouldn't have any problem...
5.Occidozyga lima, extinct from HK, and bo idea where to look for it...
6.Paa exilispinosa, should be same location as Xenophrys
7.Rana latouchii..hmmmm..myabe need a little bit more luck..
8.Rana macrodactyla..lowland species, which is more difficult I guess...
    9. Rana taipehensis, got to go back again...
AND 10. Philautus romeri, regarded as endemic...but quite few places reported it presence, but the Hong Kee seem to be ignoring these records, of course I don't think they got check the specimens.....anyway, this species appears in government's advertisement everyday..brain washing the citizens this is a species only found in HK....sighh

But very hard to spot them....as the jungle is too thick.
