    yes for sure it is a characin, it has the adipose fin, and it does look like a Characidium. technically characidium is not in the "tetra" group I think, but I have to check Géry. but then its just a common name, no big deal.
    why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

    Yes... i've been looking out for the Characidium sp. since i got back from Canada.. that is about 3 years aleady and the only time i saw one was when Ben was located next to KS...in his show tank.. a few weeks later.. it was gone....

    Choy.. Characidium sp. is common name meh? whats the scientific name then?

    Tetra is a layman term for fishes from the Characidae family. Characidium spp. belongs to the Characidae family. So to the layman, they are tetras.

    I think Choy means to say that "tetra" is a common name used for these kind of fishes..

    I misunderstood and thought he was mentioning that Characidium is a common name... i thought that was damn weird.

    Yes, commonly known as darter tetras....
    Have you seen them behave in the aquarium?? OMG.... i sooooooooooo love them.

    there was a few Characidium on and off, especially from Choon Sua.

    Don't know if Azmi can bring it in or not?? Anyway, since I'm gonna bring in another fella from the amazon, if i get a bag of 50 or 100 darters, anybody wanna share??

    On the side note.. i saw the uncle last week and thought it was incidental.. however, this week when i went to my usual weekend coffee shop for ,what i think is one of the best wonton mee in singapore, i saw him helping out at the drink stall!!! So i guess i'll be seeing him weekly now..haha.. wonder if i can get some of his fish contacts...hmmmm...
