Think all of them should take on dry food pretty easily. Maybe the "wastemoney" will be more troublesome. Tetra or Sera or TetraPro products seemed to be pretty paleble to them.
What is the best dry food on the market to feed fishes spoilt on live daphnias? I think I need to wean them off the daphnias because I think they are not getting enough nutrients from them. I use brine shrimps for the occasional treat and I don'y use tubiflex worm because of the stench they produce. If money is not an option, what is the best dry food to give? My fishes include clown killies, weitzmani tetras, amber tetras, dwarf pencilfishes and dario darios.

Yeah, the "wastemoney" spend 23 5/6 hrs a day behind my tonina and the other 1/6 hrs sticking their head out to eat the daphnias. So I can only go "WAAHH.." when I be a good boy and don't move. Talk about a relaxing hobby.
i used to use Hikari daphnia/flake (i mix 50/50)..then i changed to sera o-nip....then i changed to ADA gold..which singapore don't carry...
Of all these the Sera o-nip was best received but for fishes that are shy and don't come out to feed.. best would be the ADA gold becuase it is a very very very close 2nd and it goes all over the tank as opposed to the sera o-nip which is stuck to the glass...
Heard some fishes go crazy for the hikari carnivore tabs as well..but for weitzmani stationery food is a problem since they are so shy.
I would be wary of D. dario. Although some aquarists claimed that they will take to dry food, I am not sure if this is something sustainable in the long run. However, in matured planted tank, they may be able to find other sources of food, like micro-organisms amongst the plants.
I doubt I will want to wean them off completely from live food, but I think in the long run it is better for them to have some dry food to supplement their need for vitamins and minerals that may be lacking when feeding with live food.
Hey, that term 'wastemoney' is © by yours truly-ask Nick-Wackypt.
I think ADA AP1 is really good. Put a pinch near the filter outlet and the random drift attracts the pickiest eaters from experience. My friend's weitzmani's love it. These include my small R kalochroma, White cloud mountain sp vietnam, Celestials and Microrasbora brigittae.

how are tetrabits? =) something abit less exotic! haha
Hi,
You can get ADA AP product from Eco. Actually you should get AP2. AP1 is more for fries. My few surviving weitzmani loves them. (I don't mind adopting from you). Hehe..
Stan,
You aren't the first one to call them "wastemoney'. Valice also calls them that.. SHeesh. These are beautiful fishes. Will sapu them again when it reaches our shores again.

AP2 is pretty good... Alot of my fishes love them too...
They do smell pretty fishy. Probably that's why they like it.
So far, think only Eco carrying?
yeah I pick up a pack of AP1 for me future fish as well
I like AP1 for those ~1cm Boraras brigittae up to adult Green neons tetra size fishes because they really swim into a feeding frenzy.
Bigger fish than that like 2.5" -4" AP2 would be more filling.
Save the plastic spoon from ADA powders you buy. scoop a teeny bit of AP fish food and put near filter outlet [under the water surface and let the current take it]. Nicest if you have the lily pipe outlet, you can see food go into a vortex. [Small pleasures with ADA toys. ]
My small time breeder friend feeds his precious CRS on AP and AP gold exclusively.

Does dry food really works for fishes like Sphaerichthys vaillanti and Fundulus heteroclitus? I have never succeed feeding dry food to these fishes, their senses are very sharp and could tell easily the difference between dry food and live food. The best I could do is frozen worms and shrimps, even that is quite a struggle.
For those who want to try out just a bit, there are small packs available at $8....saw it at eco-culture.
