    Brown cotton wool type of algae on the moss,what is that?
    How to get rid of this algae.
    It is on my new planted tank,and no fish in it.HOW?

    is this brown "brush" under the centre spine of the moss? if so it is the reproductive "whatever-it-is" of the moss. My moss eventually grew little strands with a tiny green/yellow "fruit" at the end of the strand.
    why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

    Brown? Eh... if your tank is really new, then its normal. It'll go away once the plants stabilise.

    Hmmm...I got those brownish black velvet like algae on my slates too,very slimy when i touch it. Is that called BBA? Or just plain algae?

    think that one is called brown algae, BBA is tuft-like.
    why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

    Can't tell which category my algae fall into, think got test kit easier. Anyway my cory seems to like them,biting bits here n there.[:]

    It is like a thin layer of coton wool cover the moss in brown colour and no terrible smell.[]
