My submersed Cryptocoryne undulate [low tech, temp at 25c] is melting away for some unknown reason. The first signs are is a gel like spot on the leave then progressive disintegration of the leaf. This happens quickly, with the pictures taken over 12 hour period. Very noticeable that other C. undulate plants have it now as well.

Other plants not impacted, no recent changes to the tank in the last few weeks. Any suggestions on the cause or cure?

Finding the cause of crypt rot/melt is alot like troubleshooting computer problems

What was the last change to your tank?

Allow me to share with you the cause of my latest crypt rot/melt, I changed the tubes of my lights from 6500K to 10000K, and this is only for 2 out of the 6 tubes in use, the remaining 4 tubes were unchanged.

Others has also reported crypt rot shortly after adding root tabs.

No CO2, but did dose some Lushgrow micros about a month ago when I saw the frogbits getting yellowish... The lighting is mainly ambient, but can get direct lighting in the afternoons for an hour or so.

The only time the tank gets artificial lighting [T5 HO 54w] when I have a coffee or beer in front of the tank in the mornings or the evening, sometime more in the weekends.

Add some KNO3 and KH2PO4 as well...not in EI dosage but rather 5-10x less per week. You can go one or two weeks without dosing after every month to purge the excess if you wish.
