Is yours a discus planted tank? If yes, your discus will be very happy eating up the malayan!

oh well
ive got 30 malayans inside already. hope they know when to hide.
but seriously, would adding malayans help control algae?
how many would be put in a 3 feet tank?
any other algae eaters?
btw how often would u change water for a 3 feet tank? n how much?
is putting activated carbon/zeolite a good idea?
yamatoes shrimps are better algae eater.. as for how many.. its depend how much u willing to spend [] .. for my 3ft.. i got 30+ over malayan and 10+ yamatoes.. u can try to add otos and also SAE if u really want to control algae..----------------

everyweek change 1/3 is enough..
cheers
YES, why so kiam kana? only 30+ malayan, these are cheapo and should be in the hundreds. I had 150 malayans (plus many other shrimps) in my 2.5ft tank.
yamatoes does not like high temperature so may not be suitable for a discus tank. you might try young SAE.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

just buy those phosphate removers for controlling algae can liao. high levels of phosphates combined with strong light and other dissolved elements in the water makes it easy for algae to grow. reducing the amount of phosphate in the water reduces the amount of algae present. in combination with shrimps and regular water changes, the algae problem can be controlled. if u want maximum algae away, get a UV sterilizer. Back to Killies... slowly.
Carbon and zeolite is not a good idea. They will suck up a lot of the stuff that plants need.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
not all algae thrive when phosphates are high
i've had black brush and black beard all growing happily with phosguard in the filter *shrug*
malayans don't do much for the harder algae
they tend to munch on the softer filamentous algae instead
haha.. i said 30+ over.. so 100 also 30+ over ..right []----------------
