    Hi all,

May I know how do you all trim your stem plants??

Is it when we saw fine roots growing out from it's stem, then we trim?? Or we can just trim then as and when we want when they had grow tall but without fine roots growing out from them??

Hope to get some advise from your all.

    Thanks for all your time.

    Regards

I cut mine along the stem & merely replant the cut portion. The other method taught bt Teo's farm when I want to cultivate a 'Y' (2 stems going out of the orginal) is to cut just below the leaf.

Rationale of cutting below the leave is that, usually, the cut portion will turn black and "die" so sometimes, cutting too close to the leaves at the bottom will cause the leaves to die as well. And new shoots wouldn't grow out from there.

Personally Valice, when I bought the plants from Teo's, the farmer cut the stems with his fingernails just below the leaf and then gave me that particular advise.

After a couple of weeks when my plants are stablised, I too used that method taught and it works. Doesn't seem to die on me... but I noticed that the stems which shot out from the orginal stems doesn't seem that strong. Reason may be that, sharing a source stem caused a 'bottle-neck' situation. It is only when I permanently cut the outgrown stem and rooted it, given time, the stem would be as strong as its parent.

    Hi Bro Valice and Crystalred,

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. Actually I had this experience which is the cut portion did turn black after some time.

So would like to hear from more people on how they cut stem plants.

    Thanks for both bros' time.

    Regards
