Can try mini pellia tied to SS mesh(trimmed down to fit the space) if you still want the look. HC might have a problem with the light you have on your cube. With 13W over a 1ft cube, you also don't even need to have CO2. It's very low light. The WPG rule for lights doesn't work too well on small tanks.

haha no worries =) my tank no co2 and only 2wpg lighting so i'm not really afraid of it growing long and messy =) i'm starting to get tempted to dose weekly excel though...which might spell disaster for me since i've already obtained my e tenellus

a bro was selling 18W 1ft light in marketplace for less than what a 13W costs 1sthand...i PMed him about it last week before i was advised against 18W for my low tech and it was still available

i think brianclaw is right about your light though...13W for a 1ftcube is about 2wpg and you may have algae problems if you inject co2?

illumnae - My point was that 13W over a 1ft cube is very low light, there is no need for CO2 injection and you can't rely on the WPG rule for small tanks. For example, you try growing plants with 4W of light over an 8" cube(roughly 1 gallon).
