    schooling fishes

    Hi

my personal favourites are Danio choprae and Danio sp. "TW02".

very active, always skitting around in small groups, and common to see them "flaring" at each other too!

Harlequin rasboras are actually good schooling fishes. Plus their colour grow more intense as they mature. At least from what i observe from my own rasboras.

Don't need predator... although it does somewhat help.
You want rarer schooling fishes?? try Hyphessobrycon elachys... but singapore don't have..haha... yet...
Otherwise, azmi used to have a whole bunch of Rasbora spilocera..also good schoolers...first time i saw them in singapore...but i bought them all liao..haha..
Next in rarity, we have fishes like Nannostomus eques..also commonly known here as rocket pencil fish.
Also if the season is right.. you can try to find the now elusive Corydoras hastatus. These don't behave like normal corydoras as they will swim in mid-level in school and don't just stick to the ground all the time.
Can also try to find Hyphessobrycon vilmae...commonly known as chocolate neon tetra... this one quite hard to find.. only saw once or twice in the market.
If you like more red on the fish then can try Hyphessobrycon amapaensis...
All of the above are quite hard to find..but sometimes still can see in fish shops.
For common ones... currently...i have this liking for black tetra or black neon tetra.. common names are so silly... scientifically also known as Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi.
Then if you still dont like can try Hyphessobrycon roseus... this one seaview have the last time i saw... quite nice.. yellow and red with black spot.

    Hope that helps.

Can I vouch for corydoras hastatus ? They do schoal but perhaps not as heavily.. Nevertheless, they do stay in groups together most of the time according to my experience, in terms of movement and feeding especially.

But I haven't seen them for the past 1 year plus since the last time I saw them at the Great Hall in serangoon.

They bunch up tightly. Don't need predator. One bugging and chasing SAE will keep them in one bunch. Absolutely beautiful.
A not so good photo of them bunching up.
