Yes. You will have to select your plants carefully, and the lighting need not be so strong. Less fert.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

I have a 1m tank half filled with water for my newts... no CO2, no fert, just base fert. Growing some Blyxa japonica, some unidentified Echinodorus, Cryptocoryne parva, Hygrophila Polysperma 'Rosenervig' and a red lotus. 7 Chinese Firebelly Newts, 10 (or less) Yamatos, 4 Otos. Hardly any algae (probably due to lack of Nitrates), low maintainance.

The lights are 2x36W, about 6 inches above the water, probably 25 gallons of water.

Plants are small and grow very slowly. The Lotus has very old leaves, dark red in colour. Even though its only 3 inches from the water surface, it never tries to grow surface leaves.

Various froms of Anubias... go to Teo and ask for 'Nana' the tall (var. barteri) and short (var. nana) ones. There is A. barteri var. angustifolia and "coffeefolia". Dunno if Teo has the last 2.

Try some of the easier crypts like Wendtii, in its various colour forms.

Blyxa Japonica has worked for me without CO2, but probably need high light, so not higly recommended.

Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus), the normal version and the "Windelov" will makea nice contrast.

You can find info on these in Tropica. Search for plants that need low to moderate lights and easy. Those, in general, should be ok without CO2.
