last couple of month did ask about it, think you cannot carry more than 10L of water in with the fish or something like that. and not too many fishes also. 4 should be fine.
no it's NOT ok to carry a few fish back. you stay awake the next month thinking of all the thousands of other fish you could have bought there at a fraction of Singapore prices,, not to mention the plants, chicks, accessories, more chicks, posters, chicks aplenty, books, did i say something wrong???
i bring back a sackful of plants every time. the custom guy sees and ask if it's for Thai tomyam.
ok guys thanks for the info.
maybe bring 4 back should be enough.

hand carry, now super strict
used to be ok
i had 2 fish confiscated 1 month ago at the airport there.
fortunately fish was not the main thing i brought back
Try SIA, its your best bet now.
forget abt cathay or thai.
no matter wat, the market is a must go. the herps section is very nice too. lizards and iguanas and snakes are a lot easier to bring back than fish.
the last trip i went there 3 days in a row(entire market opens on weekends, fish shops most open daily)
good to know that the fish shops open everyday, i was having headach whether how to keep them alive over the weekend as i am only coming back on wednesday.

stuff main luggage the fish will freeze ! cargo section....
unless you have privilege to ask them to place the fish in a heated compartment in the cargo area of the plane
i went thru the customs no problem
it was when just before i board the plane that the airline ppl came over to me and took my fish
Maybe if the fish are small, can put inside thermal flask.
They might just think it's fish soup and let it pass...
victor, a very good idea
it is feasible actually for small fish
put the thermos in a the hand carry
btw anyone knows whether do the thai guys do export delivery for a few fishes.
I don mind paying a bit more so long can get the fish i like.
Also saw in TV before a kind of squarish new packing for fishes that can help fishes to last in the 'bag' for one week and also durable. Saw one man stepping and stepping on it and the bag still refuse to burst.
Donno they have it there a not.

It's a possibility... don't forget, LFS usually pump oxygen into the bag first.
Anyway, LSZ, what was the reason for the airline to confiscate the fishes? Not as if you could hijack the plane or something... "Do as I say, or I'll stab you with this swordtail fish!!!" HAHAHAHAHA!!!
