Hi pple,
I just aquired a atman 3338 pro for my 2ft plant tank and it seems that the turbulent cause by the rain bar is kinda strong. So is there a way or tools that i can reduce the turbulent? Thnxs

you can enlarge the holes of the rain bar using a knife or screwdriver...----------------

i've tried it... it works...
Direct the flow towards the wall behind instead of away, and angle downwards slightly to reduce surface turbulence.
Frankly, a 3338 running at 1,200 l/hr is way, way, way overkill even for a 2ft fish only tank (~55 - 60l). You are running your water volume through the filter at about 20 times an hour. For a planted tank the most is 3 times an hour down to about once an hour.
If the water is moving too fast in the tank, your plants will not be able to absorb the nutrients... it's like trying to catch rice during a typhoon.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Erm... regarding the fast current. There are 2 school of thoughts.
(1) Little water movement, so as to reduce the amt of CO2 being disperse out
of the water
(2) Having fast water currents. To simulate the natural conditions
It's really up to you on how you wana plant your tank, but 1200L/ hr is REALLY too much. You can add a "Y" attachment and divert the water into 2 rain bar. Each positioned near the substrate level, slightly pointing upwards.
OR
you can add a valve to control the output flow of the filter.
** if the filter heats up or anything happen, I am not held for.
The key to success is patience. If that fails, screw the guy in front of you!!
Sorree... is this Atman 3338 an external filter? If it is, is there a way to reduce the flow? I'm sure they have valves simlar to Eheim or Fluval?
So I am overkilling my tank, is there a way to correct this or I have to change the filter? I use an overhead filter and just yesterday I change to this atman, where can i get a Y tube so i can add another rain bar? Need advices thnxs

I would advice changing to a smaller filter, cos if you try to reduce 1200 l/h to 200 l/h, I don't think it'll do the filter any good in the long run. Even if you split the output, I still think it'll be too strong.
But easy said then done... getting the shop to exchange is another story altogether. []

U can also add a reactor and the rain bar together to reduce the turbulent.
3338 pro is way too strong for a 2ft tank. Anyway, try to distribute out the output flow to multiple outputs. Use the T-joint if needed. But again, it may not slow down the flow alot. Add a flow control valve should help further. Add more fine filter media help also help.----------------

Even I find that a Eheim 2028 flow of 1050litre/h is way too strong with only one output for my 4ft tank. I have used the T-joint concept to divert the output flow.
BTW, how much you get for the 3338?
