    Hi all, need some advice..
I've a 2ft tank currently running on a chiller connected to a Eheim 2026 maintaining at 25 degrees. Iniside my filter i have Biohome, Ceremic Rings and quite alot of Coral Chips. So far no casualities and the CRS are doing fine, but i realized after putting in the coral chips my PH went to 7.3 even with ADA soil. My GH went to 170ppm which is quite hard. Thus i removed the coral chips inside my filter, only leaving a few small pieces behind for the buffering and calcium for sucessful molting.
Will by this lower my PH eventually with the ADA soil inside? Or is there a better solution? I'm currently not injecting CO2..

removing the coral chips will certainly decrease the overall ph pf the tank.

By the way why you want to use coral chips together with ADA ???

koonac, from what i know coral chips is to lower PH if you're using lapis or normal soil. .if you are using ADA no need to use any coral chips.

Correct me if i am wrong.
For what i know coral chips will increase ph and harden the water too.

ADA will make your kH drop to 1 or even 0 but don't worry about it

ok will monitor the water for 1 week.. see how it goes.. hopefully GH and PH will drop back to normal.. but the ironic thing is that, even with such hard water 1 of my CRS got pregnant..

How much coral chips is needed to maintain the kH of 240L (4ft tank) at 3 to 5?
I like the idea of coral chips as it's less troublesome than dosing Ca/K carbonates.

And would that amount of coral chips provide enough calcium for let's say an iwagumi layout with low plant mass?
    I'm back!
