Finally bought my arowana. A 6 inch Red Tail Gold. The pics total only a 100KB but Homex's bandwidth is overloaded and its very slow loading.

So far he is ignoring the SAEs and Otos. They also instinctively keep a healthy distance from him. The 90 plus malayan shrimps, as always, are well hidden among the foliage, so I have no way to tell if their numbers have been reduced.

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    Thanks for the compliments.

Yes, its a 6 footer. I don't dare wish for a 10 foot tank... planting and maintaneance will kill me. []

Chaq, I got it from Pet Provision not ProPet.

    Hey Vinz,
Congrats on the Panda gold. Did the guy give you any discounts off the list price?

Nice spoon head, red fins and red eyes. Looks like a great aro!

How were the other aros at the other shops you visited?

So far for my tank, my aro has not attacked the 2 SAEs and oto and clown loach. He has eaten most of the yamatoes (expensive meal!)

    Vic,

Its a DFI RTG not a Panda Gold. Lester told me the brother of my fish was even nicer!!! It had a very obvious spoon head, broader and so distinct you could recognise him instantly in a community tank. Too bad I was too late... Yah, he gave the usual discount.

Can't really tell for Lam Hong and T801. Both's tanks were too dark and T801 lights were faulty and kept going off. Lam Hong had one which caught my attention. It's markings were darker then most. All were still fairly young, so was hard to see the potential. Propet had Panda Golds, but were ex, as you said.

    Vinz,
Oh. I missed your post about buy from Pet Provision. I misread as Pro Pet..
You're right. Pet Provision only sells DFI aros.

Normally, the exceptional pcs are grabbed as soon as they reached the shop. You're very luck to get the 2nd best...

No doubt, it will turn out an exceptional fish. How is the shine on the fish? Up to which level?

Keep us updated with pics of your aro. You'd be amazed at the growth rate of the juvenile fish.

BTW, try to feed it market prawns as a staple food. It's more convenient for you. I made the mistake of feeding my aro frogs and now he's addicted to frogs and refuses to eat market prawns.

But growth rate for frogs is exceptional. It was growing almost 0.5 inch per week.

    Vic,

TC was saying that there's a shortage of RTGs right now and its hard to find them (might be months before next batch). They are considering Panda Golds. Prices for RTG might go up too, due to demand.

I was lucky cos the 2 RTGs were acually booked along with a few reds by someone who wanted a community tank. Later, he changed his mind and decided to get more reds in place of the RTGs. This fella was in a tank with 3 reds, but he was literally the king of the tank, herding the other 3 into a tight group.

The shine seems to be up to the 4th only.

He's on market prawns now (trained by PetProv). He will usually take the first or second piece from my hands. The rest he will take if I let go when he swims near.
