Basically, I just cut the base of a small plastic bottle, attached 2 suction cups.

Hi Kenny, long time no see.

I used a tubing connector attach onto the cap, silicone it, then attach the air tubing.

The digicam is from my company, guppy swims fast, unable to get a good focus, so blur pics.

prevents all the CO2 from escaping. The collected CO2 then has a higher chance to dissolve into the water.

    my DIY co2 doesn't bubble

i wonder why.. put in 2 cups of sugar, 1 teaspoon yeast (instant type) and some baking soda...

still no bubble... fed up... put the whole packet of yeast into it.. still no bubble...

is it the wrong type of yeast? i can see some foaming.. but i don see any bubble in the tank coming out of the tube

First, it does not bubble immediately. It takes about an hour to start.

When it starts, you should see little bubbles forming or foaming in the solution itself. If not, then maybe your yeast has died. Unlikely though.

If CO2 does not appear in the tank... then check your piping connection. Could be a leakage. Put some soapy water at the joints. If bubbles form, then there's a leak there.

You can use normal baker's yeast which you can get at supermarket.

Think the water temp. u used to dissolve the sugar too high??
IF so, the yeast added will be killed, therefore, no reaction.

Hi Learner..welcome to the world of planted tanks [] ..First, it may take up to 1 or 2 days for CO2 to be produce in some cases..really depends on the quality of the yeast though. If your one doesn't bubble after 2-3 days it might be the problem of the yeast. What yeast are you using? You can also aid the process by shaking the bottle although I do not recommend it as it would mean more bubbling per second which is dangerous as you cannot control DIY method of CO2 unless you want an explosion of the plastic bottle []

For the DIY CO2 collecter, the base of the bottle no need to cut holes meh?

No. You don't want the CO2 to escape.
