IMHO if you're going to have mostly ech , crypt plants ,get more base fert 20kg of base fert i don't think it's enough for those hungry substrate eaters.
    Cheers!

i would keep the light down, and put in lost of mangrove wood tied with lots of ferns and mosses, interspersed with the echinos and underlined by crypts, aponogetons.... then should be quite low maintenance.... but should have floating plants to help soak up NH4.

Hmmm... good idea to lace the base fert with a healthy dose of iron fert. Something like ISTA's laterite pellets. It'll be good for the Es and Cs.

    Anubias?

sherwin, 4 bags of JBL not enough lah. The big pack of JBL is 9 litres by volume, so for an average 10cm thickness of base fert you'd need 8 packs leh.

(I think so the big JBL pack is 9 litres and the small pack is 5 litres, can someone confirm, if you look at the bottom of the pack it will say 9 "l&quot.

As for lonestar, these comes in 22kg pack which is roughly 20 litres. One pack already enough for you to make a 1-inch thick gravel layer.

i don't think the big pack JBL fert is 9L it should be 5kg, if the small pack is 5kg then my 6ft got 150kg of base fert and that is slightly off course.

the small one is 2.5l or 3l while the big one is 5l.
    Cheers!

Sherwin, 10cm is only 4-in, thought you wanted BIG fert hungry plants. If not can go for average 2-3 inches. In any case, you just obtain the required volume given by 120cm×60cm×thickness and dividing this by 5000cc which is the volume of each JBL base fert pack.

I think gravel you should just have 1-inch thick. You'd roughly need 21 litres of gravel.

what do you mean Sherwin? base fert should be much thicker. Gravel 1-inch should be enough liao, otherwise your grass and glosso can't reach it, kekekekeke ask ryan
