Launched: AQ LFS Directory!!!
Hi all,
I'm happy to announce the launch of AQ's LFS Directory.
Many thanks to the moderators who squeezed time out of their schedules to help populate the list. People like: Valice, Michael Lai, Wacktpt, Ranmasotome, Justikanz. Please forgive me if I've forgotten anyone.
The list is as complete as we can make it. Right now it contains mainly the names, address, contact numbers, opening hours and some basic information about their specialities. AQ Members (and merchants too) contributions are welcomed, whether shops listings, photographs or updates. International listings are welcomed too. See here for submission details. We do need your help to make sure the information is correct.
We are also currently marking out the locations of the LFSes on Google Maps. Now, at a glance, you can see which shops are near your home, their accessibility from MRT stations, or which ones are clustered together so you can visit all of them in one co-ordinated 'raid'. This is a work in progress and we expect to complete it in a few weeks. For those more out of the way locations, (e.g. Gan's and Teo's in Lim Chu Kang) we'll be adding recommended driving routes, and nearby public transport. We'll be adding links to and from Google Maps. Unfortunately Google Maps does not offer us a way to organise the links on the Google Map page, so browsing there will be rather frustrating. We are however, looking at 'plugging' Google Maps into AQ's site.
In the longer term, we will be taking photographs of the shops and adding them to the directory as well.
Merchants are welcomed to link to their entry in our directory from their signature.
The directory can be searched as well. Just use the advance search page and select LFS Directory under the 'Search in Forum(s)' listbox.
