Finally managed to see my glass shrimps attacking a snail (looks like Ramshorn snails but bigger). The shrimp went for the fleshy insides and started tearing bits of flesh out.

I have been using these cheap feeder shrimps to control the snail population in my tank. Except the Malayan Trumpet Snails hiding "underground" still evading capture.

They don't eat plants. But may ambush a small weak/sick/injured fish for dinner. The snail population would never be wiped out totally but you should be able to notice the difference.
Another thing is that the shrimps also scavenge for food leaving less for the snails. Less food means slower reproduction rate for the snails.

Cool ! Carnivorous shrimps .... where can we get that Juggler ? Any photo ? I'm thinking of getting puffer fish but it's notorious as a fin nipper. And will it attack other shrimps ? I've small (1 cm to 2 cm) Malaysan shrimps.

    Thks.

    agree with DEA.
when i released my ruby tetra, one of the glass shrimp caught one ruby and started feasting on it. .
has to stick my hand into tank and chase the shrimp away.
next morning i discovered that i lost 2 rubies and no evidence of 'murder'.

Yes, I ever lost some of the small fish like Neon Tetras to them but those Neons were weaker ones. So don't put too many of the Ghost Shrimp in the tank. And put smaller ones if you can. Drop in extra food so they can scavenge and not attack small fish. Over time, I don't know why, even the Ghost Shrimps population dwindled. Could my Clown Loach have eaten them?

    Juggler,

Are the ghost shrimp those that are being sold for Luo Han?

The last time I bought 10 Tiger shrimp and the next day I couldn't find them at all!! I'm thinking for keeping ghost shrimp as a replacement.

Here's one more pic of evidence that ghost shrimps eat snails.
No wonder all the big Ramshorn snails I put in to eat algae are disappearing fast.
