I couldn't find CaCO3 anywhere so I got something else. Not sure if the ingredients are ok for aquatic plants. Looks like all O, C, Ca, H and nothing else.

    HealthAid Balanced Calcium Complete 800mg

    Each tablet contains:
    800mg Calcium from:
    Amino Acid Chelate
    Citrate (Ca3(C6H5O7)2)
    Carbonate (CaCO3)
    Pyruvate (C6H6O6Ca.2.5H2O)

    Aeon,

Are you planning to use CaCO3 to increase Ca content in water column? CaCO3 is not as soluble (water turns milky) as KNO3 or K2HPO4. I have some spare CaCO3 in powder form. You can have it if you want.

Increasing Ca in substrate can easily be achieved by using Wonder-Gro root+ tablets. I had stopped dosing Seachem Equilibrium (coming to 3 weeks). So far, my plants are not showing any sign of Ca deficiency .
    Cheers,

Ya I'm trying to up the Ca. I am wondering if the one I have now is suitable. Since it is not fully carbonate, it could alter the kH less. But still it dissolves poorly. How about boiling the mixture?

How about egg shells? Mostly CaCO3.
Can put in filter and let it dissolve slowly.

To my understanding, CO3 salts are hard to dissolve by nature. So, I guess increasing the temperature will not help. However, CO3 salts dissolve well in acidic water. I don't remember what's the end product of acid + CO3 salts (returned Chemistry to my teacher already).

Seachem Equilibrium provides loads of that plus additional K+ and more. I'll suggest you stop messing with all the NO3 test kit results and add some KNO3 plus KH2PO4. Your glosso is a bit on the pale side ime.

I'm dosing LushGro KNO3 and KH2PO4 daily + Ferka K + LushGro Micros, for about 3 weeks already.
My camera somehow shows the tank in a yellow tint, maybe it's the 6000K Giesemann bulbs. The glosso is very green in fact.

    See?
