I just got a new driftwood and soak it in the water for 2 days.
When i place it into my tank, i noticed that some real small pieces of wood shred comming off the driftwood. (Not sure what to call it) It's causing my tank to look dirty with many many small pieces flooding around.

    Is this normal?

Use a brush (those made from coconut husk) and brush the driftwood, this will help solve the 'loose' wood issue.

Actually doesn't matter, shouldn't be rotting if it's not smelly. Some woods have bark or not so solid, the outside will chip off. Just brush with metal or hard plastic brush.

I have the same issue before. Just brushed it off and it will be fine. However, after some time if you remove the dw from your tank, you might still find some small pieces dropping off or on the surface of your soil or sand.
    don't worry, be happy

Yes, try to use toothbrush to scrub it off. Try pressing the DW. If it too soft, probably it really rotting off. Where u got it from?
