When do you think is the best time to put fertilizer inside your tank?

    1. Is it before the lights turn on?
    2. is it just right after the lights turn on?
    3. Is it when the plants are pearling?
    4. Or anytime you want to?

Sorry,I can't seem to see how to make a poll? Thanks.

i think if you're dosing EI, it doesn't matter when you dose as long as you do it sometime during the day. this is as EI's principle of working is that there will never at any time be a deficiency of nutrients in the water if you follow the schedule, so there will always be enough nutrients whenever the photosynthesis starts regardless of when in the day you dose.

That is the theory but EI based on the tank volume. It does not dictate what kind of plant and how dense it is. To me, I better save than sorry.

EI's starting point is tank volume, but you're supposed to modify it according to your needs such that it'll hit the desired "excess" in the water

but it's personal preference i guess...better safe than sorry is a good rule of thumb to go by for me i do it after the first photoperiod of the day, but before the 2nd longer one

EI is dossing thecnique developed by Tom Barr, EI = Estimate Index. It is basically dose your tank with excess nutrient but not too much until it kill all your fauna . With EI, you no need water parameter test thus simplified the dossing for lazy people like me .

I lost the Tom Barr link on EI, maybe other bro can help

Well I'm at office during the photoperiod, so it is not possible even when I want to

I usually dose right after the light is turned off at night. If I forget, I'll dose early in the morning before I leave for work.

Greg Watson mentioned in his dosing guide that consistency is crucial when it comes to dosing.

    Hope this sheed some light.
    Cheers,

i usually dose when the lights come on.. so ill be sure that the plants will take up the nutrients first rather than dosing at night..
