hi guys.. as im having a almost glosso lawn.. today did a major trimming to my tai yang gu jing aka tonina..
then i took out one of my wood for easy trimming... while taking out.. some glosso are already creeping on the wood.. did not noticed it and just pull.. den 1/2 of my glosso lawn kena uprooted.. now ALOT of glosso is infront of me.. either i cut and cut and cut to replant OR.. i change foreground plant which is what im thinking off..
glosso is just too hard to maintain when its a lawn..
    heres my tank specs:
    Wpg: 4 ~ 5 wpg
    temp: 25 - 27
    co2: 2Bps
    fert: NPK,trace and iron(soon)
    substrate : ada soil
what other plant are slow creepers and don't grow tall?
im thinking of HC.. or maybe quite a few meshes of US fissiden as foreground...
    really need you guys help..
    thanks.

if you want easy maintenance, then go with hairgrass
don;t want tall? use jap hairgrass

hc only slow for the 1st month when its adapting
after that it'll cover up the whole place

foreground plants like app, hc and glosso look good but need good maintenance
    especially when they grow thick
if don;t maintain the bottom layers sure rot off from lack of light and nutrients

wait till you have a hc/glosso lawn thats well grown in for a few months
cover the whole place and grow thick on top of each other and when the bottom layers start to die
    then you'll know whats messier

if you want simple then stick with moss/fissidens on mesh - its easiest
or if you can afford it, stick the whole foreground with crypto parva

hmmm... cannot afford crypto parva.. haha..
i don't mind re plant the HC after a few months.. but for glosso.. 1 month is enough to make you replant the lawn...

    its your choice
    just offering you some opinions
personally i prefer glosso, hc is too small and an absolute pain to plant
glosso is slightly easier though they grow faster.

You can go for a mix of plants.
I did a mixture of C.parva and Japanese hairgrass. Very nice effect. You can see leaves of the C.parva popping up within the Japanese hairgrass when it has acclimatised in the tank and start to run.

imo for glosso lawn, its easier to just let it spread
then once its overgrown and thick after some weeks
just uproot the whole thing and replant
less painful than trying to trim/cut and replant every week to keep it in shape

you may want to ask the glosso experts around for tips on how they maintain

you tried downoi on ada soil before?
it doesnt seem to go well with ada

you can always use valice's suggestion and use a mixture of plants

    My experience with glosso.

1st start with high light 3-4WPG. Let it spread and crawl with trimming. Then reduce to 2-3WPG. It won't go upwards, since it has been "trained" but will slow down a bit so easier to maintain.
    I'm back!

yea.. im growing 5 downoi in my tank with ada.
yes downoi don't do well in ada. but just dun plant the stem of the downoi in the soil. just plants the roots only.
if not it will melt away.
